Portfolio Asset Manager

Salary Details:
DOE
14 May 2021
About The Role

With an established, yet rapidly expanding customer base, we have a great product for those who know we do the right thing as well as helping others who are ready to make their energy and sustainability impact. We are innovative, fast paced, and just plain different, with a strong commitment to our customers, priding ourselves on the ability to be highly flexible, agile and able to adapt to each customer’s needs.

With a unique portfolio of products and businesses, this role is about helping us to drive operational effectiveness and improvements across our fleet of large and small scale wind and solar assets as well as our electric vehicle charging stations across the motorway network. This is an ideal opportunity for an already experienced renewable energy asset manager, capable of delivering increased generation capacity through strategic insight and planning.

The O&M team literally keeps all of our machines running, from wind turbines to solar panels and the electric highway. We have sites all over the UK and it goes without saying keeping these going means we can help Britain stay charged, whether in their home, business or vehicle.

All of our engineers work directly for us, that matters as they share our vision and values and know that we value safety above anything else as well as great customer service, as well as saving the planet of course. So this makes our leadership roles that little bit different, we want excellence in our operations and maintenance on behalf of our customers, our people and the planet.

About You

You will be, like us, passionate about sustainable energy with, of course, commercial ability and sound technical knowledge. Superb electronic and mechanical engineering experience is essential, so you’ll have this with a great understanding of the commercial aspects of wind/solar farms and other renewable energy.

You can inspire teams and manage operational activity in equal measure and will be obsessed with safety and accuracy, achieving what you need to in the time you need, but never compromising on the highest standards, you have the best of integrity.

Value for money, delivering on time and measuring success are second nature, your organisational skills are an asset and you use technology to assist delivery, this all comes with passionate communication skills and a desire to do things the right way.

Normally based in Stroud, your normal working week will be 36.5 hours but we are always happy to consider flexibility especially when you probably travel (particularly to Louth in Lincolnshire where our large wind O&M team are based) and need to do some alternative hours, with this in mind you can work on your own as well as within the team, whatever the job needs you to do.

What will you do?

  • Always make sure we uphold and adhere to the highest standards of Health & Safety for our people, the portfolio of assets and quality and environmental standards.
  • Help us define and implement a best practice maintenance vision and strategy with supporting policies, processes and procedures that maximise the performance of our renewable assets;
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects whilst assessing and communicating the impact on our maintenance activities;
  • Be a role model, consistently promoting high standards of values and behaviour, showing your team the way, leading and inspiring them to achieve excellence using best practice and continuous improvements approaches, organise their activities across the UK so that all of our operations on the estate are the best they can be;
  • Design and manage our annual maintenance budget, forecasts and capital expenditure, always with an eye to value for money and legal responsibilities;
  • Develop, update and continually review KPI’s to give the Head of Generation clear oversight of all Operations and Maintenance performance;
  • Work actively with internal and external 3rd parties and contractors, making sure they worry about the things we do and uphold the utmost integrity of our brand;

Flexibility Statement

The fast moving nature of the company’s business means that from time to time you may be asked to perform roles outside your original job description on an ad hoc basis. This allows the company to utilise its people in the best possible way at all times and helps employees to make their contribution in a changing environment.

About Us
Ecotricity is the greenest energy company in Britain. In fact, when we started back in 1995, we were the first green electricity company in the world.

Our mission was and remains to change the way energy is made and used – after introducing green electricity to the world, we introduced green gas to Britain in 2010 too.

Our model is unique: we use our customers’ energy bills to fund the building of new sources of green energy. We like to refer to this as turning ‘bills into mills’ – energy bills into energy mills, whether that’s wind, sun, sea or gas mills.

We’ve built over seventy wind and sun parks across Britain, we’re planning to build Britain’s first ever Green Gas mills, and through Britwind, our small wind company, we design, build and deliver small wind turbines to landowners and businesses throughout Britain and the world!

We don’t just focus on energy though – we built and run the Electric Highway, Britain’s leading network of electric car charge points, we helped Forest Green Rovers become the greenest football club in the world, and launched Britain’s greenest mobile phone service, Ecotalk.
