Financial Control Roles Available!

About The Role

We have a mixture of permanent and fixed term contract roles currently available within our Financial Control team! They cover various areas including Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury activities, improvement in our control environment and supporting the implementation of new systems.


The Financial Control team is currently undertaking a massive programme of change to improve the way we do things. We are seeking driven individuals who are keen to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment and be part of delivering changes which will help us improve our support to the wider organisation.

Core Responsibilities

  • FP&A Roles:
    • Lead financial planning and analysis exercises for areas you support
    • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop reporting formats to promote insight and awareness
    • Ensure month end figures accurately represent each period’s activity, collaborating with the management accountants to improve transactional processes
    • Prepare informative commentary to support the results. Own and monitor Risk & Opportunities
    • Oversight of CAPEX spend to ensure budget and business cases are correctly approved
  • Treasury Roles:
    • Manage operational relationship with our banks and be responsible for maintaining the bank administration (mandates / account access etc) and compliance reporting to banks
    • Lead bank reconciliation process with transactional finance and management accounting teams to ensure all treasury general ledger codes are actively maintained
    • Daily cash management and ensuring execution of critical payments happens on time
    • Maintain and improve Group Treasury procedures
  • General Finance / Project Roles:
    • Collaborate with business colleagues and technical partners within the project to ensure outcomes meet financial control requirements
    • Develop Financial Control requirements and test output developed by technical teams
    • Develop best practise reconciliation to ensure data transferred between systems is complete
    • Understand how sub0kedger systems work and how they will impact financial ledger

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure all issued reporting is robust, compliant, and consistent and that it supports both current activities and future growth requirements
  • Lead the development of processes you are responsible for to drive best practice and embed professionalism
  • Actively develop content and format of reporting, identify areas of improvement, and follow through to implementation of system-based output
  • Proactively identify areas of improvement and work with others to implement and see these through to completion
About You

Essential Skills & Expertise


  • Roles available are at part qualified through to qualified (5+ years experience)
  • Relevant experience either within practice or working within a finance department of an organisation
  • Interest and understanding of how financial systems interact with each other 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – interacting between Finance and other key stakeholders and teams throughout the business 
  • Strong working ethic and be dynamic and enthusiastic to drive the Group’s performance
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office suite, in particular Excel modelling tool
  • Business process improvement mindset – the drive to improve processes 

Desirable (but not essential) Skills & Expertise 

  • Utilities sector experience
  • Advanced data skills: SQL, VBA, Power BI, Power Query
About Us

Ecotricity is Britain’s greenest energy company. When we started back in 1995, we were the first company in the world to supply a new kind of electricity – the green kind.

Our mission was and remains to change the way energy is made and used in Britain – by replacing fossil fuels with clean, renewable energy.  

We don’t just supply green energy, we use the money from our customers’ bills to make it ourselves too – we build windmills and sun parks in Britain. We call this ‘bills into mills’. In 2021, we’re starting work on building two new solar parks, and in 2022 we’re bringing geothermal energy to our customers’ fuel mix, a first in the UK.
