About The Role

Overall Description of Duties

This is an exciting opportunity to take part in the transformation of Ecotricity’s finance function.  We are seeking a Senior Management Accountant, a role which is critical for working with other teams around the business to direct internal financial processes and assist with the preparation of monthly financial information. You retain ownership and control over the integrity of the balance sheet.  You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining financial policies and management information systems.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop best practice reconciliations between general ledger, subledger and external source information
  • Ownership and control over the integrity of the balance sheet
  • Support the transformation of the finance system for improving our reporting and identify opportunities to future proof our process and controls
  • Review, develop and document business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls for specific processes identified with weaknesses
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Preparation of the P&L, B/S & Cashflows for companies within the group

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure all issued reporting is robust, compliant, and consistent and that it supports both current activities and future growth requirements
  • Lead the development of the Management Accounting processes to drive best practice and embed professionalism
  • Proactively identify areas of improvement and work with others to implement and see these through to completion
About You

Essential Skills & Expertise

  • Fully qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA etc) with post qualification experience
  • Relevant management accounting experience in month-end close, reporting, and complex reconciliation
  • Interest and understanding of how financial systems interact with each other
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office suite, in particular Excel modelling tool
  • Business process improvement mindset - to drive improvements in processes

Desirable (but not essential) Skills & Expertise

  • Utilities sector experience
  • Advanced data skills: SQL, VBA, Power BI, Power Query

    • You will have flexibility to deal with different finance issues across broad spectrum of tasks
    • You will hold yourself and others accountable to consistently achieve results.

We don't just supply green energy, we use the money from our customers' bills to make it ourselves too- we build windmills and sun parks in Britain. We call this 'bills in to mills'. In 2021, we started work on building two new solar parks, and now, in 2022, we're bringing geothermal energy to our customers' fuel mix, a first in the UK. We're also developing green gas mills which will generate 100% green gas from a source that we will never run out of- grass.
