Carbon Partnership Manager

About The Role

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to take on a leading role within The Carbon Bank – our new venture to promote nature and help support the landscape for future generations.

The core function of the role is to expand upon the range of projects accessible for supporting nature via carbon sequestration or biodiversity net gain. The role holder will be responsible for assessing internal opportunities for projects as well as working with partners and potential investors to offer an end to end process from land acquisition, planting and ongoing management through to the sale of carbon credits generated.

This is a new role in an area that we see expanding rapidly over the coming years and offers great opportunity for development, both on a personal and business level, combining project and relationship management skills across a range of stakeholders.


What You Will Do

  • Develop partner relationships to link external projects to the Carbon Bank, acting as broker for the sale of credits or offering investment opportunities
  • Assess potential project sites using pre-developed model resources and provide assessment of site viability to senior management
  • Attend off-site client meetings, site visits and events when required
  • Maintain back end systems to support the Carbon Bank website sales platform
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current and developing standards and identify potential new areas of business activity
  • Meet various standard and ad-hoc reporting requirements
  • Support the Group Environmental policy and its associated targets to make the Green Britain Group net carbon neutral by 2025
About You

Knowledge Required:

  • Excellent understanding of the carbon market, carbon sequestration standards and biodiversity net gain or a keen interest and desire to learn 
  • Working knowledge of Woodland Grant Schemes in England, Scotland, and Wales and the role of bodies such as the Rural Payment Agencies
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Desired – GIS skills, experience of National Vegetation Classification (NVC) and Environmental Site Classification (ESC) datasets, woodland establishment techniques and contract management.

  • Great communication skills with ability to communicate to a senior level of stakeholder
  • Analytical ability to assess and interpret data and identify opportunities
  • Strong networking & relationship building skills – both externally and internally
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders within a single project and to deliver on agreed outputs
  • High level of numeracy and problem solving ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive with ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines with a high level of quality assurance and due diligence, prioritise a varied workload and independent working.
  • Self-driven and results orientated
  • Ability to demonstrate commercial thinking and identify new opportunities for funding or business development
