Business Credit Manager

£30,000-£40,000 DOE

About The Role

As the Business Credit Manager, you will be responsible for all Business to Business (B2B) credit control activity; from the credit checking (including underwriting and authorization), to debt recovery and dealing with insolvent businesses effectively. You will also be responsible for continually enhancing the B2B credit strategy and debt recovery process to keep up to date with a growing customer base as well as developing initiatives to mitigate risks and drive improvements in performance. You will be accountable for the reporting of the team and ensuring they achieve KPI’s whilst maintaining Ecotricity’s high customer service standards.   

What you will do

  • Develop and enhance credit control and debt recovery strategy for business customers.
  • Optimise cash flow and ensure positive and appropriate customer outcomes, whilst delivering desired average debt and average time to pay.
  • Oversee credit risk decision making and working with the Business Sales team to achieve results.
  • Work with other companies within the group to develop credit control policies and procedures.
  • Oversee escalation of debtor accounts; working with third parties for field visit, potential disconnection action and our Legal team for litigation.
  • Work alongside the other business teams to assist in managing our large and complex business customers whilst ensuring our credit needs our met.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost of recovery and cost to serve.
  • Take full responsibility for performance, development and the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Business Credit team.
  • Drive improvements in all collections activity, deploying best practice collections management, ensuring appropriate measurement and monitoring is established.
  • Encourage continuous improvement in collections processes by ensuring advisors deliver results against agreed KPI targets within a highly regulated area.
  • Ensure all complaints and customer issues (internal & external) are investigated and resolved within agreed time scales.
  • Identify and report issues with internal processes and work with peers on operational improvement activities.
  • Planning and objective setting for departmental activities in order to deliver against strategic plans.
  • Act as escalation point for operational issues, staff and customer enquiries.
  • Provide management information to the business as required.
About You
You will have -
  • Experience of a financial, service, utility or similarly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of commercial credit control and debt recovery.
  • A successful background in leading, managing and developing a team of people in a changing fast paced environment.
  • Experience of developing and implementing processes, and process improvements.
  • Ability to assess, analyse and make decisions in a fast-moving environment.
  • High level of numeracy, accuracy and problem-solving ability.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Excellent planning, prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with accuracy, clarity and vision.
  • Report writing and monitoring ability.
  • Training and coaching skills.
What you will bring:
  • Proven track record within a collections environment.
  • Understanding of commercial collections within a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience in the energy industry.
  • Experience of developing partnerships with 3rd parties.
  • CICM qualified.
