About The Role

Britwind is a wind turbine manufacturer, installer and maintenance provider, making 1kW, 5kW, 11kW & 15kW wind turbines. With over 2500 turbines installed globally, Britwind has a fantastic reputation in the small wind industry.

As a Britwind Turbine Technician, you will work within our existing service team primarily maintaining 5 kW wind turbines. These are small turbines which do not require climbing but instead are lowered to the ground to work on. Installing and maintaining our other turbine products will also form part of the role.

Our team is based out of Norwich, working in Norfolk and the surrounding counties, for both private customers and investors. There are occasional trips across the country with overnight stays.

Training will be given on the job.

Core Responsibilities

  • Work with the Field Operations Manager maintaining a fleet of Britwind 5 kW wind turbines to the highest standard
  • Completion of field service reports with full detail of works completed on site
  • Organisation of the work unit and van, keeping stock levels sufficient to complete services and ensuring tools are well organised and maintained
  • Work in adverse weather conditions throughout 12 months of the year
  • Safe isolation and work on electrical systems, identifying failed components and carrying out repairs.
  • Compliance with health & safety policy and procedures
  • Travel across the UK to carry out work, with occasional overnight stays
  • Communication with landowners and customers, representing a professional company image
  • Diagnosis and repair of mechanical faults in the field
  • Installation and maintenance of Britwind’s 1kw, 11kW and 15kW wind turbines

About You
  • A team player with a positive outlook and ‘can do’ attitude to any task that may be asked of you
  • Willingness to learn on the job from our senior technicians
  • Skilled in use of hand and power tools, with demonstrable previous experience maintaining machinery
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures / work instructions
  • Good understanding of safe working practices, and ability to comply with H&S policy
  • Keen attention to detail and precision when carrying out work
  • Highly motivated individual, with a drive to work alongside a team to complete works on time
  • Excellent attention to detail and full commitment to quality
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good fault finding and diagnostic abilities in a mechanical setting
  • Well organised and able to keep a tidy work environment
  • Desire to work in an ever growing and evolving industry
  • Ability to work outside in all conditions 12 months of the year
  • Clean, full UK driving license; ability to safely drive a van and experience towing a trailer (desirable)
